Online therapy in New York & New Jersey for anxious and neurodivergent parents who want to calm the storm of burnout, isolation, and self-doubt, and actually enjoy their kids.

Anxious parents who are overwhelmed and overstimulated need support to reduce their feelings of dread, anxiety, and failure.

Can you relate to this?

You're exhausted and overwhelmed by parenthood, doubting your abilities, maybe even second-guessing why you had kids in moments of despair.

No matter how hard you try, you can’t shake the constant feelings of failure or the belief that things are just harder for you than they should be. You should be happy! You should be thriving! You definitely should not be feeling this out of control.

You feel depleted, touched-out, frazzled, and worn down, give or take a million other synonyms. Your sensory needs feel impossible to honor and you have never felt more overstimulated. Your brain is a nonstop catalog of intrusive thoughts, negative self-talk, and you can’t even remember the last time you felt in control. You wonder if you’ll ever feel like yourself again and you’re all too aware of your perceived shortcomings as a parent. You catch yourself thinking you will let your children down and fail spectacularly.

Maybe you’re expecting a child and the anxiety about the transition into parenthood is swallowing you whole. Or maybe you’re trying to figure out if you even should have kids at all. Are you enough? Are you too much? Are you too sensitive, too anxious, too weird to be a parent?

What if you could experience a safe and empathetic space to share these feelings and experiences judgment-free? What if you trusted that your fears, anxieties and the differences of your brain don’t define you as a parent or limit your worth? What if you knew that you could get the support you need to begin enjoying parenthood more and connecting to your unique needs?

Know this: It feels hard because it is hard. You don’t have to do it alone. You don’t have to bottle it in.

You are a good parent. It can and will get better.

Hi! I’m Kate.

I’m a neurodivergent therapist and a mom of two.

Just like you, I’m on this wild ride of parenting. I know how weird and lonely it can feel. And I can help.

Kate Duffy is a white woman with brown hair wearing a flowered shirt. She is a therapist who helps new parents who are struggling with anxiety and are concerned about being a good parent

Kate Duffy, LCSW (she/her)

I believe that every parent deserves support (including you! Yes, you!)

I offer online therapy for neurodivergent and anxious parents (or those expecting or contemplating parenthood) who want to deepen their understanding of their needs and alleviate feelings of shame, inadequacy, and isolation.

I’m here to help you feel more grounded and supported as you navigate the herculean task of raising small humans and rise to the challenge of meeting the unique needs of your brain while doing so.

In therapy with me, you can expect to:

  • Begin to understand your unique needs as an individual and as a parent and how these needs might be different than what you originally believed or what society has told you

  • Break free of the shame you are holding onto that tells you that you are not a good enough parent or partner

  • Ask for what you need and want from family, friends, and loved ones and build meaningful relationships

  • Learn tools to reduce overstimulation so you can show up for your kids and yourself when everyone is losing their shit

  • Deepen your trust in your abilities as a parent and feel confident that you can handle the hard stuff when it comes up

  • Forgive yourself and repair when you mess up, lose your cool, or miss an opportunity to connect with your child

  • Explore and better understand your evolving interests and identity as an individual when you feel confined to your role as a parent

  • Embrace yourself as a whole, unique, and worthy person and expand your self-compassion
